Critical Illness Cover is an insurance plan for an individual or couple
that pays out a guaranteed cash sum if you're diagnosed as suffering from
a critical illness covered by the plan. These usually include heart disease,
cancer and other serious conditions, but you would only receive the payout
if you survive, not if you die. For joint policies the cash sum is normally
only payable on the first claim.
